The new book of Ghana’s former National Security Coordinator of Ghana Mr Kofi Bentum Quantson, Ghana Politics was last Friday night launched at the British Council Hall in Accra.
A retired colonel of the Ghana Armed Forces, Specialist Security Analyst and Conflict Resolution Expert, Colonel Festus Aboagye, launched the 234 paged book.
The launching was attended by many dignitaries including the former Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, Professor Ivan Addai Mensah, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana , Legon.
Mr Kofi Bentum Quantson, the author cautioned against compromising the security of the nation.
He stressed the need to be bold and condemn what is abominable and confront problems with the right solutions instead of treating the symptoms.
“We will lose the qualities that make us human beings if we continue to do things the way we are doing”
He pointed out that some buildings do not make ecological sense these days
“We are not facing the naked truth. We are sick upstairs or downstairs.”
He bemoaned the collapse of Ghana Airways: once the pride of Africa and
Sale of Black star line to people we cannot till now identify.
Touching on the national football team, the Black stars, he explained that the team was a foreign policy instrument that brought Ghanaians together but now depending on the government in power we pray that the national team loses.
He said we pamper the problems
Until we come to the reality that there is something wrong with us we cannot progress.
Pre mix fuel controversy, national service postings,SHS placement are not new yet we are not able to resolve problems that characterize these once and for all.
He condemned Violence, criminalities involving some MPs, and expressed disappointment that investigations on these are never concluded.
Parliament, Mr Quantson said remains our last chance of survival as a nation.
“Parliament is our last hope,
Judiciary and executive colluding at the peril of the ordinary Ghanaian.
He drew the nations’s attention to the uprising in Sri Lanka, where police and soldiers joined and the Arab spring.
He was against Politics of sycophancyism adding that Ghana has developed ‘political industry’ with special people, the political class at the helm of affairs benefiting and wondered whether our political architecture is good for us
Col. Festus Aboagye described Mr Quantson as voice of conscience who speaks the truth regardless of politics.
“Why we are so possessed with traveling with presidential jet with political class saying they are so special ?”
He said Those who must do the right things are doing the wrong things.
He pointed out about a Political class grand scheme for state capture.
“Let us get serious with corruption fight,
Ghana still needs its truth tellers.”
